The Malaysian and Chinese government is confident of reaching an amicable solution in order to avoid controversies post the MH370 tragedy.

According to Chairman of CIMB ASEAN Research Institute (CARI), Tan Sri Dr Munir Majid, the relationship between both countries remain strong even after 40 years, as China is Malaysia’s number one trading partner while Malaysia is China’s third largest in Asia.

He added, apart from the MH370 tragedy which should be handled well, the South China Sea border dispute is also viewed as a major threat to both the countries good relationship.

Munir said that the grief and anger faced by the families of passengers on-board MH370 is clearly understood.

He however, hopes that these emotions could be handled in a proper manner by both countries.

Munir was appointed MAS non-Executive Chairman between August 2004 until July 2011.
