Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak today demanded a full investigation to be carried out by an international independent team into the crash of MH17 aircraft.

Speaking at the emergency sitting of parliament in Dewan Rakyat, Najib who had also lost his step-grandmother in the crash, condemned in the strongest terms the inhumane, uncivilised, violent and irresponsible action of the parties believed to have shot down the aircraft.

"There are many questions that need immediate answers, such as whether the plane was shot down by a guided missile, who shot it down, who supplied the weapons and what their motives were," he said while tabling his motion at the emergency sitting.

He also questioned if the shoot-down was a planned attack or an accidental mistake.

All the 222 Members of Parliament from both the sides of the divide had also stood up and observed a minute's silence as a mark of respect for the victims of the Malaysia Airlines (MAS) plane crash.

Najib had called for an emergency Parliament session to table a motion to condemn the shooting of the MH17 aircraft over the weekend.

He however said, the government will not point fingers until sufficient evidence are obtained.

The Prime Minister also called on all parties to keep their spirits and courage up in facing the challenges ahead.

Malaysia on Monday made an agreement for the release of the 282 bodies and the two black boxes as well as for international investigators to have full access to the crash site in eastern Ukraine.

Earlier, Najib urged all Malaysian Muslims, to hold prayers for Malaysia to always stay peaceful, away from disasters and threats that could cause havoc in the country.

As for non-Muslims, he encouraged similar ceremonies to be held according to their believes.

He had also declared for the country's national flag the "Jalur Gemilang " to be flown at half-mast beginning last Friday until Monday.
