As part of its transformation agenda to be more progressive, MCA is planning to amend the party's constitution to allow its branch representatives the right to vote in the party's central election.

Its President Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said the amendment would be made during the upcoming MCA General Assembly soon.

Liow said MCA is aligned with its youth transformation agenda, especially now, when it has become a more open and progressive party compared to before.

He also added that MCA National Leadership has agreed with the proposal by MCA Youth Chief Datuk Chong Sin Woon for MCA to open up affiliate membership to non-chinese members.

"We wholeheartedly agree that MCA Youth should continue with their agenda to attract more youth electorates to be with MCA regardless of their race. This can be done by setting up MCA clubs consisting of non-Chinese members.

"As a party, we want to be able to interact with all levels of society. Even though MCA started off as a communal party we have decided to push for a multi-racial approach that is in line with the national agenda of promoting diversity and inclusivity," he told reporters after officiating the MCA Youth Selangor General Meeting.

On another note Liow said MCA supports the 2050 National Transformation agenda mooted by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak during his 2017 Budget speech on Friday.

He added that MCA urges the government to organise dialogue sessions on the national level with youth representatives, including those from MCA Youth.
