Tumpat UMNO commitee member, Mat Razi Mat Ail, 49, is the chosen candidate for Barisan National (BN) in the Pengkalan Kubor state-assembly by-election this September 25.

Deputy Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced Mat Razi Mat Ail as the BN candidate during a ceremony at the by-election center in Pengkalan Kubor, Tumpat today.

Mat Razi who is the Assistant District Educational Officer of Tumpat, grew up in the area and is fondly known as Cikgu Mat Razi.

He was the founder of a religious in Kampung Simpangan and is active in many religious activities, earning him the name Ustaz Mat Razi.

Mat Razi was once the winner of an Al-Quran Taranum competition when he was studying at a teacher’s college and was also an imam of Masjid Simpangan.
