Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal said is unaware if any UMNO Youth excos were involved in the purchase of an Australian property worth RM138.6 million by Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) investment arm, Mara Inc.

He said all the agreements made by any quarters before Mara Inc. owned the property, was beyond their knowledge.

“What I know is that the agreements were based on the evaluation of the property done by Mara Inc subsidiaries and any transactions made prior to that is beyond our knowledge.

“I have no answers to that... these are only allegations. There is no truth there. How do we know if any Youth (UMNO) was there?” said Shafie after the breaking of fast event at the German Malaysian Institute (GMI), Bangi last night.

According to Shafie, if any agreements were made before the evaluation process, it had nothing to do with them.

“If it happened, it is not connected to the purchase made by Mara Inc,," he stressed.

Shafie was also asked if any legal action would be taken against PKR vice-president, Rafizi Ramli over the allegations.

“We shall wait ... any action would only be imposed after the investigation. Let’s take one step at a time ... we don't wish to draw any conclusions over what the next step would be. We will look at the scenario first,” said Shafie.

“Any allegations must be first investigated ... we cannot accept anything as the truth until investigation is completed.

“We cannot accept whatever Rafizi said as conclusive, until it is being probed,” said Shafie.

Earlier, UMNO Youth Chief Khairy Jamaluddin had denied the allegations made by Rafizi as and said that it did not make sense with no concrete evidence.

He also said, Rafizi should step forward with the evidence if he had it.
