The body of a man who was attacked by a group of motorcyclists using safety helmets, was found near a traffic light junction in Taman Putra, Ampang Jaya here early today.

S. Kanagaretnam, 56, sustained multiple head injuries when he was attacked near a motorcycle shop at Jalan Permai in Taman Tasik Permai.

Despite the injuries, he rode his motorcycle for some distance before he collapsed and died at the traffic light junction.

The body was sent to the Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (HUKM) in Cheras.

Ampang Jaya police chief ACP Khairuldin Saad said the case was classified as murder.

"Based on information from witnesses, the victim was attacked by five men before the assailants left the scene in three motorcycles," he said in a statement here.
