One Malaysian citizen has been confirmed to be among the passengers on the missing AirAsia flight QZ8501 which was en route from Surabaya to Singapore.

According to Hadi Mustofa, the spokesperson for Indonesia’s Communication Ministry, based on the flight details of QZ8501, the other 149 passengers are Indonesians.

"Local broadcaster MetroTV reported that the passengers included 149 Indonesians, three South Koreans, including a baby, one Briton and one Malaysian and one Singaporean.”

The plane departed Surabaya at 5:20am and was supposed to arrive in Singapore at 8:30am. It was reported that communication was lost at 7:24am local time.
