A Malaysian, known as Mat Soh or Abu Turab is said to have been killed in a battle in Syria, while defending a village called Syar’aya.

Another Malaysian, known as Akel Zainal who was with him, had informed of his death through his Facebook page.

Akel said many Malaysians who are currently there fighting, were also injured.

“I had kissed his cheeks and told him that we will meet there, wait for me there,” he wrote on the page.

His status was shared by former Kedah Pas ulama committee member Mohd Lotfi Ariffin who was sacked by PAS for allegedly involved in the Syria conflict.

Apart from Mohd Lofti, PAS had also expelled three of its members after Bukit Aman’s counter-terrorism unit released their profiles, with their pictures, for terrorism acts.

The three were among the five men wanted by the police for involvement in militant activities.

Wisma Putra had also said that up to 15 Malaysians who had joined the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), were feared killed in the fighting.
