Malaysia clinched the inaugural Asean Football Federation (AFF) Beach Soccer title after beating Vietnam 6-4 in the final at the Teluk Chempedak beach, here Wednesday.

Skipper Mohd Zaharim Mohd Yusof lived up to expectations in the final by scoring a hat-trick while Mohammad Fakhrullah Mohamad, Mohamad Norazman A Bakar Mohd Riduwan Mohd Nor added their names to the list of scorers.

Vietnam scored through Bui Tran Van Luan (3) and Tran Vinh Phong.

Meanwhile, AFF Honorary secretary Datuk Azzuddin Ahmad said the inaugural tournament had received tremendous response from teams and fans in the ASEAN region.

"Initially there were only eight teams but on the closing day for entries, the number increased to eight. That is a very positive response from the 12 affiliates of the AFF," he said.

He hinted that Felda would continue to support the event in the years to come.
