The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission in Perlis today detained two policemen attached to Kubang Pasu police headquarters in Kedah for suspected involvement in corruption.

Its director, Yaacob Angah said the two Mobile Patrol Vehicle (MPV) personnel in their 30's and 50's were picked up at the Kedah/Perlis border to assist investigations on a case of soliciting RM4,000 bribe.

In a statement today, Yaacob said the two policemen were charged for asking for bribes from a ketum leaf trader who was nabbed by the authorities recently.

He said the case was investigated under section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009 which provides for a jail term of not exceeding 20 years and a fine five times the amount of bribe or RM10,00 whichever is higher upon conviction.
