The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has opened a disciplinary investigation paper against an officer in the agency who had allegedly abused his wife as spread over the social media recently.

MACC in a statement today said it was prepared to cooperate with the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) following a police report lodged by the woman.

"MACC will not hesitate to take disciplinary action if the officer is found guilty," the statement said.

MACC also urged the public not to speculate on the issue and to leave the matter to the police to investigate.

Recently, a Facebook account under the name of Shahilda Fadhil in a status uploaded revealed of the domestic violence she had endured and claimed her husband who is a MACC officer had often abused and sexually assaulted her.

The status caught the attention of netizens who were angered by the man's alleged demeaning behavior. -- BERNAMA
