MCA on Thursday, stood by its stand of rejecting Hudud and will not support the law which will be implemented by the Kelantan government, soon.

Its president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said that the statement made by former MCA leader, Datuk Seri Dr. Chua Soi Lek who accused the party leadership of being “helpless and weak in objecting hudud” as baseless.

Liow had refused to comment on the statement made by Chua openly, however stressed that the party’s stand has always been not to accept the implementation of Hudud.

“I do not understand why Chua made such a statement. I refuse to comment on his statement. He can say anything. I am leading this party and I am responsible for the decisions made by my party.

“I have been clear about this matter since before. It is not an issue. Mine and MCA’s stand on the implementation of Hudud is strict. We reject it.

“MCA members will not support it, should it be tabled in the Parliament,” said Liow to Astro AWANI.

Liow had earlier on Twitter stated that the Federal Constitution guarantees civil liberty.

Soi Lek in a statement on Wednesday had urged for MCA leadership to meet with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to stress its stand on Hudud and to ensure that the Barisan Nasional understood it.

He added that the issue should be brought up in the BN Supreme Council by MCA.

The former MCA President is confident should all 21 PAS Member of Parliament (MP) and 88 UMNO MP’s support the law, it will only need three votes to be approved in Parliament.

Liow had taken over the MCA leadership from Chua after winning the party’s general election.
