National badminton ace Datuk Lee Chong Wei may not be able to make it to the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, beginning July 23, Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said today.

"I received news from the National Sports Institute that the injury sustained by Lee Chong Wei may not allow him to play in the Commonwealth games," he told reporters after distributing tithe and breaking of fast at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Jias here.

As such, he said the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) should think of the best strategy to replace Lee.

"Ii will be a great loss to us because we are hoping for him to get one or two gold medals," he added.

Chong Wei is scheduled to play for the World Cup in Denmark from Aug 25-31 before participating in the Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea from Sept 19 to Oct 4.
