Kedah state government owned Kolej Universiti Insaniah (KUIN) is willing to accept students from Albukhary International University (AiU) which is expected to close in June.

State Chairman of Education, Transport and Works Committee, Datuk Tajul Urus Mat Zain said the KUIN management had discussed the matter with AiU.

AiU had offered its students to other higher education institutions in Kedah after submitting a letter to cease operation to the Ministry of Education (MOE) on March 14.

Tajul Urus said KUIN Rector Prof Datuk Mohd Yusof Kasim told him that AiU had given the students freedom to choose the universities or university colleges to continue their studies.

"I understand that AiU will sponsor the students fees who continue studies in other universities until they graduate," he told reporters, Tuesday.

AiU was operating based on the 'wakaf' (eternally charitable) concept where the students were not charged fees as they came from poor families worldwide.
