Starting Jan 18, Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) will introduce 12 new services under its Electric Train Service (ETS) to meet the demand of passengers, besides offering 25 per cent discount on fares for passengers on certain trains.

In a statement here today, KTMB said seven new daily services would be introduced for the Gold Class, namely four trips from Ipoh to KL Sentral (to depart at 7.30 am and arrive at 9.50 am); Butterworth to KL Sentral (depart 3 pm and arrive 6.52 pm); and two trips from KL Sentral to Butterworth (depart 9.15
am and arrive 1.07 pm/depart 8 pm and arrive 11.52 pm).

For the Platinum Class, three new daily services would be introduced namely three trips from Butterworth to KL Sentral (depart 5 am and arrive 8.35 am); Padang Besar to KL Sentral (depart 9.30 am and arrive 2.25 pm); and KL Sentral to Padang Besar (depart 11 am and arrive 3.55 pm).

KTMB would also introduce additional serviced from Monday to Thursday, namely for the Gold Class trip from KL Sentral to Ipoh which will depart at 5.30 pm and arrive at 7.50 pm.

Evening trips from Friday to Sunday would also be introduced for the Gold Class, namely from KL Sentral to Ipoh (depart at 11.40 pm and arrive 2 am); KL Sentral to Butterworth (depart 5.30 pm and arrive 9.30 pm); Padang Besar to KL Sentral (depart 5.15 pm and arrive 11.05 pm); and Butterworth to Ipoh (depart
9.45 pm and arrive 11.24 pm).

According to the statement, all tickets for the new services are available from Thursday.

Meanwhile, KTMB will also give a 25 per cent discount on ETS ticket fares for adult passengers from Jan 18 to 30.

The discount is for the Platinum Class ticket from Butterworth to KL Sentral, which will be sold at RM62 (original price RM79); Bukit Mertajam to KL Sentral at RM60 (original price RM77); and Nibong Tebal to KL Sentral at RM57 (original price RM73).
