The flood situation in Sarawak worsened with increasing number of flood victims as it rained non-stop in the state since Saturday.

The situation is made worse with the forecast that the ‘King Tide’ will hit the state beginning today until Jan 26.

According to the state government’s annual calendar, Sarawak will experience high tides as high as 5.7 metres followed by 6 metres the next day. The tides are expected to be as high as 6.3 metres Jan 22 and 23.

Meanwhile, a total of 2,534 flood victims were evacuated from 28 villages in Kuching to relief centres as of 7am today following non-stop rain for the past two days.

According to authorities, this involved a total of 520 families.
