Deputy Education Minister, P. Kamalanathan has lodged a police report after allegedly being assaulted by an unknown man.

While confirming that the incident took place and a police report has been made, Kamalanathan declined to comment further to avoid interrupting police investigation.

"I wish to confirm that I have made a police report on an incident at my service centre in Hulu Selangor on Sunday.

I have given my statement to the police and am fully cooperating with them in their investigations.

"I do not wish to comment further on this matter as it may hinder the ongoing investigation by the police," he said in a text message to Astro AWANI.

It was reported that the assault is allegedly linked to a request made by the assailant’s family who wanted Kamalanathan transfer their relative to teach in Hulu Selangor from Johor.

The case is currently being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.
