Julianna Margulies won best drama actress on Monday at the Emmys for her role in "The Good Wife," announced as television's equivalent of the Oscars neared its climax.

She beat rivals Lizzy Caplan ("Masters of Sex") Claire Danes ("Homeland"), Michelle Dockery ("Downton Abbey"), Kerry Washington, ("Scandal") and Robin Wright ("House of Cards") at the 66th Primetime Emmys show.

Bryan Cranston wins Emmy for best drama actor.

Cranston, winning his fifth Emmy, beat rivals Jeff Daniels ("The Newsroom"), Jon Hamm ("Mad Men"), Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey of "True Detective" and Kevin Spacey ("House of Cards").

'Breaking Bad' wins Emmy for best drama.

Modern Family" made Emmy history on Monday, winning the title of best comedy series for a record-breaking fifth year in a row at television's equivalent of the Oscars.

The hit show beat rivals "The Big Bang Theory," "Louie," "Orange Is the New Black," "Silicon Valley" and "Veep."

It is the only television show to date that has won five consecutive "Outstanding Comedy Series" Emmy awards.

Earlier in the evening at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, Ty Burrell, who plays desperately-trying-to-be-cool dad Phil Dunphy in the highly decorated comedy, picked up the award for outstanding supporting actor in a comedy.
