The voice of Datuk Jamal Yunos does not represent UMNO.

Whatever statement he made or the stand he took, was strictly in his own personal capacity despite having a position in the party, Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz said.

The UMNO Supreme Council member said Jamal is only one of the 198 division chiefs in UMNO.

Therefore, it would not be fair for every division head to be blamed for Jamal’s alleged wrongdoing, especially if they were made using his Malay NGOs Coalition platform.

"What he does doesn’t represent us. One person cannot speak for the other 197 division chiefs. Why must it be like that when it comes to UMNO?

"Whatever Jamal does, it’s his own doing.

"Secondly, one should not violate the law. If the yellow team steps on a picture of Najib, you think there wouldn’t be any reaction? Why is it that only the yellow shirts can react but the Red Shirts can’t?

"Nevertheless, if you want to react, you cannot go against the law. If you violate the law, then action must be taken. We cannot condone.

"To me, if Jamal did make the statements as reported, then they are deemed seditious and violate the Sedition Act, and action must be taken," said Mohamed Nazri, who is also former law minister.

He said, Bersih 5 and the Red Shirts group are merely the rakyat's ways of wanting more freedom of speech.

However, he added that the public cannot be one-sided when it comes to championing this cause.

It was previously reported that Jamal, who is Sungai Besar UMNO division chief, had promised ‘a repeat of the May 13, 1969 tragedy’ on Nov 19 if the organisers of Bersih 5 were to go ahead with their planned rally.

Also last week, a video showing a group of Red Shirt supporters assaulting a Bersih 5 convoy participant in Sabak Bernam, Selangor also went viral on social media.

Jamal is now under police investigation. However, he is said to be out of the country at this point in time.
