The Malaysia Islamic Development Department (Jakim) will hold a special meeting with the Health Ministry, Department of Standards Malaysia and Chemistry Department on the issue of pig (porcine) DNA
found in two Cadbury chocolate products.

Its director-general, Datuk Othman Mustapha in a statement today said Jakim would also call the company involved (Cadbury) to get further feedback on the matter.

"All decisions made at the meeting will be relayed to the media after the meeting.

"In this regard, Jakim asks all quarters not to make any baseless speculation on the issue to avoid uneasiness to the public," he said.

According to the statement, samples of two Cadbury products found to have porcine DNA, Cadbury Dairy Milk Hazelnut (batch no. 200813 M01H12) and Cadbury Dairy Milk Roasted Almond (batch no. 221013 N01RI1), were found to have porcine DNA.

Yesterday, Jakim immediately suspended the halal certificate of the two products detected to have porcine DNA.

Further investigation will be carried out to find out the source of the contamination.

Cadbury Confectionary Malaysia Sdn Bhd in its statement today said it had immediately withdrawn the two products.

Yesterday, Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah confirmed that the two Cadbury chocolate products contained porcine DNA and the results of the analysis spread through the social media.
