The Inland Revenue Board (IRB) will launch a hunt for errant taxpayers and will neither compromise nor hesitate to take stern action against them, its chief executive officer Tan Sri Dr Mohd Shukor Mahfar said.

He said these errant tax payers made up between 15 and 20 per cent of the total tax payers in the country.

Among the actions that could be taken by IRB against these errant taxpayers were issuing summons, blacklisting them from travelling overseas and declaring them as bankrupt, he told reporters here on Wednesday.

He said this was a part of IRB's strategies to encourage more individuals and companies to play their parts for the country's development by paying their taxes.

"Full attention must be given in this effort so that the RM140 billion tax collection target set by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak when tabling the 2014 Budget would be achieved," he said.
