Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar has declined to reveal any information on the kidnapping of two women from a resort off Semporna, Sabah on Sept 2.

"I think it is not proper for me to tell you or give you the updates for the safety of the victims," he told reporters after watching netball and sepak takraw championships vying for the IGP Cup at Universiti Utara Malaysia here today.

A 29-year-old Chinese national from Shanghai and a 40-year-old Filipino resort worker were kidnapped by seven gunmen from the Singamata Reef Resort off Semporna at 10.30pm.

Last Thursday, a ransom of 500 million pesos, or RM36.4 million, was made for the release of the Chinese tourist, Gao Hua Yuan.

However, no ransom demand was made for the Filipina worker, Marcy Dayawan.
