Police will record statement from former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad over his claim that the King and other Malay rulers have been placed under house arrest.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Noor Rashid Ibrahim said police are currently investigating the matter.

“In this probe, we need to find the right time and situation to record statement from Dr Mahathir for him to explain if there is truth in the claims made in his blog,” he said at a press conference at conference at the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre today.

“We will record statement and confirmation from Dr Mahathir,” he said.

Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission adviser Tunku Abdul Aziz Tunku Ibrahim on May 23 lodged a police report against Dr Mahathir over his house arrest claim.

Tunku Abdul Aziz said the allegation was "false and mischievous".

Dr Mahathir had alleged that the house arrest was to prevent the King from receiving the 1.4 million people's signatures that he claimed to have collected.
