Acting Transport Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein is scheduled to provide a detailed briefing on the Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 tragedy for opposition member of parliaments (MPs) next Tuesday, Minister in Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim said Thursday.

"The MPs complained that they were not invited to our briefing earlier. So I've arranged for one next Tuesday.

"So far all of them (opposition MPs) have agreed to attend except the Gelang Patah MP (Lim Kit Siang - DAP)," he said while wrapping up the motion to debate the royal address at the Dewan Rakyat sitting here.

Shahidan said the willingness to hold the briefing proved that the government was transparent and not hiding any information on the incident as alleged by the opposition.

"The opposition MPs can clarify their doubts about the government's handling of the tragedy, on that day," he said.

Touching on the government's decision to set up a Royal Commission of Inquiry or special Parliamentary Select Committee on the MH370 tragedy only after the black box was found, Shahidan said that so far the government was firm in its stance.

"Because, as long as the black box is not found it will be very difficult to proceed with an inquiry. We're sure the acting Transport Minister weighed many aspects before reaching this decision," he said.

Flight MH370, carrying 227 passengers and 12 crew, left the KL International Airport at 12.41 am on March 8 and disappeared from radar screens about an hour later. It was to have landed in Beijing at 6.30 am the same day.

On March 24, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak announced that following an unprecedented type of satellite data analysis, United Kingdom satellite company Inmarsat and the UK Air Accidents Investigation Branch had concluded that Flight MH370 had "ended in the southern Indian Ocean", west of Perth, Australia.
