Local comedian Harith Iskander has been crowned The World’s Funniest Person beating four other finalists at an event in Finland today.

Harith bagged the grand prize of USD$100,000 (approximately RM442,600) and a comedy tour in the United States (US) at 'The Funniest Person in the World' (LFFPITW) competition organised by US comedy chain Laugh Factory.

"Congratulations @HarithIskander- #LaughFactory's Funniest Person in the World for 2016," said the organiser on their Twitter account on Saturday.



The four other contenders are Alex Calleja (Phillipines) who was runner up, followed by Katerina Vrana (Greece) in third place, Mino Van Nassau (India) was fourth while David Kilimnick (Israel) was fifth.

Calleja won US$10,000 (approximately RM44,200) and Vrana received US$5,000 (approximately RM22,100).

The LFFPITW competition consists of three rounds whereby 89 comedians from 56 countries battled in Round One to earn the top 20 spots in Round Two (Semi Final), and ultimately in Round Three where the final five competed for the bragging rights of the coveted title.
