The Selangor PAS is of the opinion that the earlier views given by its President, Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang in relation to the names which are to be nominated for the Selangor Menteri Besar (MB) post is consistent with what has been said by the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.

Selangor PAS Secretary, Mohd Khairuddin Othman said that they are confident that the people of Selangor will accept what has been said by the Sultan.

He said that Selangor PAS is confident that the nominations which will be submitted by each party will be accepted by the Sultan.

"Selangor PAS will continue to defend Pakatan Rakyat and we leave it the PAS Central Committee to determine the best candidate," said Mohd Khairuddin in media statement today.

Mohd Khairuddin said that the position of the for Selangor exco members from PAS will remain until the appointment of the new MB.

The Sultan today has requested for each Pakatan Rakyat component party to submit two names as the possible MB candidate.

"This is in line with the convention which has been practised in the appointment of the previous Selangor MBs," stated a media statement from the Sultan of Selangor.

Selangor MB Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim today submitted his resignation to the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.

However, Sultan Sharafuddin had deferred the acceptance until a new MB is named.

The Selangor MB issue had received attention when PKR had ordered Abdul Khalid to resign on claims that he had not referred to the Pakatan rakyat leaders before making a decision.

Abdul Khalid however refused to let go of his position and stressed that he will remain as the MB until the end of his term.

Abdul Khalid's stand received the support of PAS President, Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang and its spiritual leader, Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat.

This however changed when PKR dismissed Abdul Khalid and PAS had proposed for PKR President, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and her deputy, Mohd Azmin ali to be nominated as the new Selangor MB.
