Police have brushed off talks in the social media that the three go-kart drivers who allegedly caused the death of two spectators at Educational Innovation of Motorsports and Automotive Race (EIMARace) 2016, are being remanded.

Kuantan police chief ACP Abdul Aziz Salleh said the drivers were allowed to go home after police recorded their statements at Kuantan Police Headquarters, here on Sunday.

"The whole process took place about an hour and they were told to go home. Its not true that they are being remanded," he said when contacted here today.

Abdul Aziz was commenting on the allegation which went viral in the social media and urged the public not to easily believe false information.

He added the police were awaiting for analysis reports from the Chemistry Department on the blood and urine samples taken from the drivers.

Factory supervisor Izwan Isa, 39, and his daughter Nur Zulaikha,5, were killed after being hit by a go-kart while watching the race in Jalan Sukpa, Indera Mahkota, here on Sunday.

In the 11.30am incident, it was reported that three of the go-karts grazed each other, causing one of them to crash onto the right side of the track.

The deceased's wife, Siti Suhaiza Seman, 38, and their eldest child, Muhammad Izz Daniel, seven months, were injured. -- BERNAMA
