The condition of Muhammad Izz Daniel Izwan, seven, who survived after a go-kart slammed into spectators during the Education Innovation Motorsports and Automotive Race (EIMARace) 2016 at Indera Mahkota here has improved.

Director of the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (HTAA), Datuk Dr Ardi Awang said a CT scan conducted on the boy showed there were no serious internal injuries including no broken bones.

"Only his face is slightly swollen on the cheeks caused by soft tissue injury, his eyelids are slightly swollen and he will have to take eye tests after this," he told Bernama through the WhatsApp application yesterday.

Dr Ardi said ultra sound checks conducted on Muhammad Izz Daniel also did not show any irregularities in his stomach and the pain he felt there was diminishing.

However, he added, the boy's condition was still being monitored by the hospital.

In the incident at 11.30am, Muhammad Izz Daniel's father, Izwan Isa, 39, and his sister Nur Zulaikha, five, died while receiving treatment at HTAA while his mother Siti Suhaiza Seman, 38, suffered slight injuries.

The race was organised jointly by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and the Pahang state government through Tourism Pahang.

It was reported that the accident occurred after three go-karts collided during the race, causing one to skid and plough into the victims. -- Bernama
