Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) president, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin still places the Pagoh Parliamentary constituency as his primary choice to contest in the upcoming 14th General Election (GE14).

However, he said, it is still too early to discuss the matter and leaves it to the party’s leaderships to decide on the best candidate to contest in any area.

Muhyiddin said as party president, he will contest and his first choice might be Pagoh. Should the highest leadership council decide otherwise, he will adhere to that decision.

Muhyiddin said this when met at the PPBM Aidilfitri open house in Tanjung Kling, Melaka, last night, which was also attended by PPBM chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

He was commenting on rumours that he would contest in the Muar Parliamentary constituency in GE14.

Muhyiddin who is Pagoh MP for five terms is not an outsider in Muar. His eldest brother, Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Yassin was a former Muar assemblyman in the 90’s and was the leader of the UMNO division of Muar.

Muar MP Datuk Razali Ibrahim said yesterday he is not afraid to defend the parliamentary seat although it is considered to be a ’50-50’ risky area for UMNO in GE14.

For the Deputy Prime Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, it is part and parcel of the democratic process in politics.
