Sureshwaran Rajoo, who was placed on police supervision and banishment under the Prevention of Crime Act 1959 (PCA), will challenge the order at the Kuala Lumpur High Court today.

The hearing, which will take place at 2pm, will be the first legal challenge on the PCA after its amendments and renewed use.

The former driver, orginally from Kota Damansara, was placed under restricted residence of Mukim Parit Bakar in Muar, Johor for three years starting May 29.

Surehswaran, 25, will be represented by lawyer N. Surendran.

“The order was given without a fair hearing. We will challenge the order, calling it unlawful and unconstitutional,” said Surendran when contacted by Astro AWANI.

Surehswaran was arrested on April 1 pursuant to alleged gang activity, remanded for 21 days pursuant to a first remand application and then for a further 38 days under the second application until 29 May 2014.
