More people have been displaced from their homes due to the floods in Kelantan.

According to the state government's flood portal, the number of evacuees this afternoon had dropped slightly to 19,501 victims compared to 19,715 people at noon.

The victims from the affected districts of Pasir Mas, Tumpat, Kuala Krai, Kota Baharu, Machang, Pasir Puteh and Tanah Merah are being sheltered at 83 flood relief centres (FRCs).

Pasir Mas has the most evacuees with the number now standing at 11,184 people, compared to 11,156 at midday. They are being sheltered at 37 relief centres.

Tumpat saw the number of evacuees rising to 3,321 victims as compared to 3,310 victimsat midday with eight FRCs opened to accommodate them.

In Kuala Krai, the number of victims dropped to 2,915 people from 3,035 people at noon with 11 FRCs providing shelter.

In Kota Baharu, 628 victims are housed at five FRCs; Pasir Puteh (603 people/four FRCs), Tanah Merah (461 people/10 FRCs) and Machang (389 people/eight FRCs).

Fair weather the last two days saw the water levels at major rivers in the state drop except for Sungai Golok in Rantau Panjang which was at 10.28 metres (danger level 9 metres) at noon today.

This second wave of floods which hit Kelantan from Dec 16 has claimed four lives, one each in Tanah Merah, Tumpat, Kuala Krai and Kota Baharu.

In TERENGGANU, the National Security Council portal for the state said there was a slight improvement in the situation at 3pm with the number of flood evacuees dropping to 8,246 people this afternoon as compared to 8,617 earlier today.

They are housed at 117 FRCs with Besut having the most evacuees at 3,058 people in 42 FRCs followed by Dungun (2,302 people, 30 FRCs); Hulu Terengganu (1,072 people, 16 FRCs); Kemaman (1,553 people, 18 FRCs); Setiu (197 people, seven FRCs); Kuala Terengganu (43 people, three FRCs) and Marang (21 people, one FRC).

The water levels at all major rivers was also reported to be on a downtrend while roads that were closed have also reopened.
