The number of flood victims in Terengganu being moved to flood evacuation centres have risen to 5,550 this morning from 4,813 last night.

Terengganu National Security Council acting secretary Roslina Ngah in a statement said five districts were affected by floods that entered the fourth day as at 9 am today.

So far Kuala Terengganu recorded the highest victims of 3,927 from 927 families who are accomodated at 17 evacuation centres.

This is followed by Marang with 967 victims (236 families), who are placed in five evacuation centres and Setiu 349 (78 families) being placed at 10 evacuation centres.

In Besut, 291 individuals from 80 families are placed in three evacuation centres and in Dungun another 16 from three families at Sekolah Kebangsaan Kampung Nyior.

Up till now, 42 evacuation centres have been opened in Terengganu.

Meanwhile in KOTA BAHARU, the number of flood victims at three evacuation centres that are opened in this district and Pasir Puteh remained at 130 this morning.

According to the state government official portal, 77 individuals were accomodated at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Mulong and 28 at SK Tiong in this district while another 25 at SK Wakaf Raja, Pasir Puteh.

As at 9 am today, the Sungai Golok water level at Rantau Panjang, Pasir Mas recorded a reading of 9.15 metre, breaching the dangerous level of 9 metres.
