Irresponsible statements made by opposition leaders will not only affect the country's economic stability but also divide the various races in the country.

Cheras Umno division chief, Datuk Seri Syed Ali Alhabshee said opposition political leaders usually give misleading statements aimed to attract people's attention.

“They make baseless statements laden with slander and malicious allegations to tarnish Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN).

“The opposition is using dirty tactics to scare people by deliberately distorting various current issues.

“Such dirty tactics will give negative implications to the rakyat especially to those residing in rural areas and those who don’t follow current news,” he said in his latest blog post.

Syed Ali said then when commenting on Communication and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak’s statement which urged politicians to be more careful and responsible when making statements, as what they say can affect the country’s stability and economy.

Salleh, via his blog, had said that that politicians should put national interest above everything else.

According to Syed Ali, twisting facts and coming up with biased statement is a norm with the opposition.

“Even if something is a fact, the opposition will deliberately make misleading statements about it.

“Before this, the opposition twisted a few issues such as about the 1Malaysia People's Aid (BR1M), EPF and Lembaga Tabung Haji.

"They give a bad impression to the people as if the economy is not stable now,” he said.

Meanwhile Syed Ali, who is also Federal Territory UMNO secretary, reminded leaders to improve their engagement at the grassroots level as to prepare for the 14th General Election( GE).
