The disabled teen Muhammad Firdaus Dullah who was admitted to Tuanku Jaafar Seremban Hospital (TJSH) three days ago, has reportedly gained two kilogrammes and is responding well to all treatment.
Director-General of Health Datuk Dr Nor Hisham Abdullahsaid the health condition of the teenager had improved and was now under control.
However, he said the teenager was also found to have suffered from malnutrition which caused him to be vulnerable to infectious diseases.
"We are in the midst of topping up his nutrient tank to ensure that he will be free from any diseases.
"We are planning the next cause of action to help him regain health and to build up his antibody," he told reporters after attending the 'Breakfast Dialogue With Health Director-General' programme organised by EU-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry here today.
Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim gave assurance that the 15-year-old boy would be well taken care of, protected and could undergo a rehabilitation process immediately.
"Since he is an OKU, we will give all kinds of assistance and facilities he may need, as well as a suitable place at one of our institutions.
"We will also give him counseling because his emotion is not quite stable," she told reporters after visiting Muhammad Firdaus at the hospital today.
Muhammad Firdaus was found in a destitute state by State Immigration officers during a four-hour 6P operation at a flat in Taman Semarak, Nilai, here early Saturday.
Rohani also said efforts are being done to track down the teenager's next of kin, besides his mother.
“This is because we don't want the famiy ties broken just because he will be placed at our institution.
"His family must take equal responsibility to ensure that he receives all the love he deserves," she said.
Muhammad Firdaus will be placed at a Social Welfare Department's children institutions under temporary court order once he regained his health and discharged from the hospital.
Rohani also confirmed that the boy's father, Dullah Sibil, had died in Sabah on Jan 22, 2012, at the age of 51, while his mother had been remanded to facilitate further investigation into the case.
