A Nepalese Brazilian football fan committed suicide soon after Brazil’s defeat to Germany during the World Cup semi-final match on Tuesday.

The Himalayan Times reported that the 15-year-old Pragya Thapa who hails from Bharaul, Pidari left a suicide note before she hanged herself in her room at approximately 8am on Tuesday.

A source in her family said Thapa was watching the game when she retired to her room when her friends started teasing her as soon as Brazil conceded four goals to Germany.

"A preliminary report shows that she had committed suicide,” said Inspector Sharad Thapa of the Area Police Office of Mahendranagar. Her remains has been taken to the hospital for a postmortem.

The eldest sibling in the Thapa family, Pragya was a Grade 10 student at the Bharaul-based Siddhartha Memorial English School.
