The Steering Committee for the Devolution of Authority is still waiting for a date for it to elaborate on the Technical Committee's report, said its co-chairman Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri.

Nancy, who is also Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, said the Technical Committee on the Devolution of Authority, which was formed to discuss the devolution of powers to Sarawak and Sabah, had sat for the third and last time on Dec 1 last year (2016).

However, she said that the steering committee, which is also co-chaired by Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman, was still waiting for the secretariat, the Attorney-General's Chambers, to get a suitable date for the steering committee to sit and elaborate on the Technical Committee's report.

Among the matters discussed in the Technical Committee Meeting were Finance; Oil Exploration, Mining & Gas; Legislations; Land & Revenue from Land; Federal & State Works; Education & Labour; and State Public Service.

"Some of the said issues are very technical, therefore it takes time for the Technical Committee members to agree on it," she said in a statement today.

The Technical Committee is made up of officers from the Federal government and from the Sarawak and Sabah state governments. - BERNAMA
