The swift action of the Education Ministry also received kudos from numerous quarters when hundreds of tables and chairs for use in the two schools started arriving aturday, when most of the classes had been cleaned.

SMKU headmaster, Yusof Ismail told Bernama, the school is ready to receive students although only three of 17 classes were in good condition.

In addition, the school's meeting room would also be used as a temporary class, he said.

SMKMU's Islamic Education teacher, Rasdi Zakaria said the teachers at the school were enthusiastic about starting the 2015 schooling session despite the numerous shortcomings.

"Many equipment were damaged such as computers and white boards apart from text books getting soaked. This has not broken our spirit," said Rasdi.

He added that the major challenge facing the teachers would be uplifting the spirits of the students who were still traumatised by the floods.

"The aid of counsellors is much needed for parents and students," said Rasdi who has taught here since 2008.
