The Sessions Court here has fixed Oct 30 for its decision on Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) vice-president Tian Chua's sedition case relating to the Lahad Datu intrusion.

Judge Norsharidah Awang fixed the date after the prosecution closed its case following the testimony of its third and final witness, former Keadilan Daily.Com reporter Siti Nooraishah Geoffery.

The other two prosecution witnesses were former Johor Baharu Umno Youth vice head Syed Amirrudin Syed Jaffar who had lodged a complaint over an article written by the reporter regarding the case and ASP Airy Zaidi Nordin, the investigating officer.

Norsharidah also ordered the prosecution and defence to submit their submissions before Oct 13.

At yesterday's proceedings, Siti Nooraishah, 26, said the contents of her article were based on a telephone conversation she had with Tian Chua, who is also Batu MP.

During examination-in-chief by Deputy Public Prosecutor Yusaimi Amer, Siti Nooraishah said she did not write the article word for word but wrote what was important.

"I did edit his (Tian Chua's) statements... just a bit to ensure proper articulation but what was said by the MP was captured in the article," she said.

She added that only the words "tembak-menembak" (shootout) were not written by her but were added by Norasikin Samsi, the sub-editor of the portal.

Meanwhile, when cross-examined by defence counsel Latheefa Koya, she said sometimes articles were edited by the editor or sub-editor but hers on Tian Chua was changed little when uploaded on March 1 last year.

To another question, Siti Nooraishah said reporters of the portal also did check back on statements made by anyone and she also did not do so with Tian Chua.

She also denied a suggestion by the counsel that most of the references to Tian Chua (in the article) did not come from him but were written by the writer herself.

"I only gave the background and the latest developments on the incident and did not edit what was said by Tian Chua," she stressed.

She was testifying at the trial of Tian Chua, 50, who is charged with making a seditious statement that the incident in Lahad Datu was an Umno orchestrated conspiracy to distract and scare the people.

Tian Chua is alleged to have committed the offence at Fraser Business Park, Jalan Metro Pudu, off Jalan Yew here at about 11 am March 1 last year.

He has been charded under Section 4(1)(b) of the Sedition Act 1948, which carries a fine of RM5,000 or three years' jail or both for a first-time offence, and five years' jail for a subsequent offence, if found guilty.
