Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) today sent their condolences to former DAP national chairman, Karpal Singh who died tragically in a car accident on the North-South Highway near Gua Tempurung, Tapah early this morning.

“PKR also extends our condolences to DAP members who have lost a great leader, loved by his friends and respected by his opponents,” said PKR Director of Communications, Fahmi Fadzil in a statement on Thursday.

Apart from describing Karpal as a defender of human rights and a lawyer who always upheld the Constitution, he was also known as a man of principles and integrity who inspired Malaysians for the better.

Kampar OCPD, Supt Ng Kong Soon said Karpal, 74, and his personal assistant Michael Cornelius, 39, died at the scene of the accident.

Meanwhile, Karpal Singh’s maid, an Indonesian national, was badly injured and suffered internal bleeding of the brain, whilst his son Ram Singh, 38,and his driver did not suffer any injuries from the accident that happened at 12.40am.

Karpal’s eldest son, Gobind Singh Deo confirmed his father's death through his Twitter at 3.40am.

Karpal was reported to be on the way from Kuala Lumpur to Pulau Pinang with his son Ramkarpal Singh to handle a case.
