DAP Sungai Pinang assemblyman Lim Siew Khim has denied her involvement and also distanced herself from her father's alleged link to corruption in a case of obtaining a low-cost house by a buyer.

Siew Khim said she was very disappointed with the video clip that had been circulating on the social media since yesterday, which recorded her father together with two other men discussing a low-cost housing matter.

"Yes, the man in the video is my father, but this thing happened without my knowledge and I got to know about it only last night. I would like to stress that my father has no power to influence the decision of the Penang state government, neither do I," she told a press conference, here, today.

Siew Khim was accompanied by several state DAP leaders including Seri Delima assemblyman R.S.N. Rayer who is acting as legal adviser, Padang Lalang assemblyman Chong Eng and Bukit Mertajam MP Steven Sim.

Lim, who is also Penang Wanita DAP chief, revealed that her father Lim Kiat Seong, 68, is a pensioner and said she had nothing to do with the allegation and had done nothing wrong on her part.

"So far, I have not received any complaints in my constituency over the alleged corrupt practice to obtain low-cost housing units and I advise all victims to lodge a police report if there are attempts to solicit money to help them get a government house," she said.

Earlier, Penang Gerakan vice-chairman Oh Tong Keong exposed the video clip which recorded the discussion on paying money to get a state government house.

Oh said the content of the conversation in the video mentioned that it was recorded last year and Lim's father was seen with a middleman attending to a complaint from a person believed to have made payment but did not receive the house.

"During the conversation, the complainant mentioned that he had paid RM260 for a few months but still had not received any offer letter for a low-cost house. Siew Khim's father seemed to be quite calm sitting on the left in the video, listening to the complaint but did not speak," he said.

Oh said the Penang state government, especially the state executive councillor for housing, should come forward and publicly state whether there were other methods to fast-track applications for low-cost units.

"We hope Penang State Housing Committee chairman Jagdeep Singh Deo would clarify the matter related to corrupt practice in obtaining a low-cost house," he said.
