The police have sent footage from a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera from the location of a killing involving a businessman at Jalan Datuk Keramat, Penang early Thursday to the forensics laboratory for analysis.

Penang CID chief Datuk Mohd Zakaria Ahmad said the police believed they could obtain clues that would facilitate investigations into the murder of the businessman, Syed Amen Jainul Abidin.

"Apart from CCTV footages, police had also sent a Winchester 9mm Luger used by the suspect to laboratory for analysis," he said when contacted by Astro AWANI.

According to Mohd Zakaria, the report of the analysis will be ready soon.

He said the police are investigating the case from various aspects and hoped that the public would not come up with any speculations.

Mohd Zakaria said it is too early to link the case to a motive of revenge or a certain syndicate.

"Let the police carry on their investigations and assure that we will update the public on the progress of this case from time to time.

"I just hope that no speculation be made," he added.

Syed Amen was shot dead on Thursday morning at Jalan Dato Keramat, George Town, Penang.

The 46-year-old victim, who was a nasi kandar restuarant owner, was shot from a close range when his car, a Mercedes Benz had stopped in front of a Ducati show room at about 3.30am.
