While Malaysians and many celebrities mourned the passing of Malaysian legendary songstress, Datuk Sharifah Aini, one particular celebrity accidentally mourned for the wrong Sharifah!

On Saturday morning, Malaysians woke up with tragic news that Sharifah Aini has passed away due to lung fibrosis, at the age of 61.

Carmen Soo, with good intent had joined other Malaysians, albeit one day later; to pay tribute to the late songbird. However, she fell victim to her auto-correct when she tweeted: “RIP to the legend Sharifah Amani”.

Sharifah Amani, as most of you would know, is an actress who shot to fame through the films Sepet and Gubra.

The actress later replied to Soo’s tweet and said that she is “still alive and tweeting”.

Soo, having realised the grave mistake she had made, instantaneously apologised and told Sharifah Amani that her “spell check had made the mistake and that she should have double checked”.

But all is good, when Sharifah Amani reassured Soo that she had a good laugh about the tweet with her family.

“No worries lah Sayang. Family and I had a giggle tadi. Thank you!”

Oh well, good thing Sharifah Amani had a good sense of humour.

Malaysian songstress, Sharifah Aini passed away at 1.26am and was buried at the Muslim burial ground in Bukit Kiara.

She was survived by a son, Aliff Omar from her marriage with Ali Bakar.
