The national women's shuttlers had to exit the BWF Badminton World Championship 2014 early when none got past Wednesday's second round at the Ballerup Super Arena here.

It started with doubles pair Lee Meng Yean and Lim Yin Loo going down tamely in 7-21, 15-21 to eighth seeded twins Luo Ying and Luo Yu of China.

This was followed with national top singles Tee Jing Yi going down in 18-21, 21-16 and 10-21 to ninth seeded Carolina Marin of Spain.

Siblings Ng Hui Ern and Ng Hui Lin were also sent packing by 14th seeded Eefje Muskens and Selena Piek of Holland, losing in 17-21 and 20-22.

Two other doubles pairs, Amelia Alicia Anscelly/Soong Fie Cho and Vivian Hoo Kah Mun/ Woon Khe Wei also had to book an early flight home.

Amelia/Soong lost 14-21 and 16-21 to fourth seeds and world number eight Yu Yang and Wang Xiaoli of China while Vivian/Hoo put up a fight but went down to 15th seeded Line Damkjaer Kruse/Marie Roepke of Denmark in 16-21, 21-11 and 10-21.

Malaysia's hopes now lie on the shoulders of world number one Datuk Lee Chong Wei in the men's singles and Hoon Thien How/Tan Wee Kiong and Koo Kien Kiat/Tan Boon Heong in the men's doubles.
