The 18 percent allocation for development under Budget 2017 does not solve the rakyat's current woes, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said.

The Selangor Menteri Besar said the allocation is a far cry from the one tabled by the Selangor government last year which had allocated 47 percent of the total budget for development.

"In fact, this year we are trying to balance the allocation for both development and operating expenditure.

"This is our commitment to the people of Selangor," Mohamed Azmin told reporters after officiating the Selangor Agrofest 2016 at Pantai Morib here today.

He was commenting on the tabling of Budget 2017 by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak yesterday.

The premier had announced a sum of RM260.8 billion which encompasses operating funds of RM214.8 billion and RM46 billion for development.

This did not include unexpected savings of RM2 billion.
