A six-year-old boy who was an outing with his family at the Batu 3 beach in Jalan Pantai here Saturday afternoon has been reported missing.

Port Dickson police chief, Supt Baharudin Mustapha said police had been alerted about the case.

"However, we do not know whether he is missing on land or at sea. Fire and Rescue personnel are still searching for him. The case is under investigation," he said when contacted by Bernama.

The boy's family noticed he was missing when they were having a meal by the beach at 5.30pm.

The boy was described as dark complexioned, 0.9 metres tall and was dressed in a blue T-shirt and black shorts.

Meanwhile, Port Dickson Fire and Rescue operations chief Mustafa Ahmad said they received a call on the boy's missing at 7.12pm and a team was at the scene 20 minutes later.

"We were informed the child was playing by the beach with his family who are from Cheras, Kuala Lumpur before he went out of their sight at about 5.30pm," he said when contacted.

He said seven Fire and Rescue personnel aided by members of the Port Dickson Civil Defence Department were searching for the boy.

"As of 9pm, he has yet to be found, the search operation is still continuing," he added.
