Barisan Nasional may have won the battle but not the war, said Perkasa president Datuk Ibrahim Ali.

He made that remark in view of the party's recent by-election victories in Sungai Besar and Kuala Kangsar.

"Yes, BN has won with increased majority. But, I would like to remind them that the victory meant they have only won the battle. The real 'war' is the next general elections," he said.

He was also of the opinion that no party, be it the ruling or opposition parties, would be able to secure a two-thirds Parliament majority in the next elections.

"Whether the next election or the future elections, I doubt any party will be able to attain a two-thirds majority in Parliament," said Ibrahim.

He said this was based on his assessment on the current political scenario in the country.

On June 18, BN won the Kuala Kangsar by-election with a 6,969 vote majority while in Sungai Besar, the coalition won with a 9,191 votes majority.

Both the by-elections were held following the death of the incumbent MP Datuk Wan Mohammad Khair-il Anuar Wan Ahmad (Kuala Kangsar) and Tan Sri Noriah Kasnon (Sungai Besar) in a helicopter crash in Sebuyau, Sarawak last May 5.
