The organiser of Bersih 4.0 rally, Maria Chin Abdullah was charged in the Sessions Court here today with failing to give prior notice to the police before holding the assembly.

Maria, 59, who is also chairman of Bersih 2.0 rally, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge before judge Mat Ghani Abdullah.

Maria, as organiser of the rally, was charged failing to notify the Brickfields police 10 days prior to the assembly was held.

The assembly was held in front of NU Sentral shopping complex, Jalan Tun Sambanthan, Brickfields here between 2 pm and 3 pm on Aug 29 this year.

Mat Ghani set bail at RM5,000 with no surety and fixed Dec 11 for mention.

Deputy public prosecutor Wan Shaharuddin Wan Ladin prosecuted, while lawyer Honey Tan Lay Ean represented Maria.
