Barisan Jemaah Islamiah Se-Malaysia (Berjasa) wants former PAS deputy president Nasharuddin Mat Isa to join the party or contest a seat on its ticket in the upcoming general election.

Its president Mohd Yusoff Haron said the party welcomed anyone who championed the cause of Islam.

"Berjasa can work with anyone who can contribute to the betterment of the country and avoid splits among Muslims," he told reporters here Friday.

He said in the upcoming general election, the party would be contesting 50 parliamentary seats (in Selangor, Perak and Johor) besides 40 state seats.

Meanwhile, Nasharuddin has fallen out of favour with PAS and was recently dropped as a member of its Syura Council (highest decision making body in the party) and currently remains just an ordinary member in the party.
