The body of a Bangladeshi man was found with his head severed at the site of a 20-storey apartment construction project in Alam Jaya, Jeram, near here on Thursday.

Kuala Selangor District Police chief Supt Ruslan Abdullah said the body of the 29-year-old man was found lodged in the iron scaffolding on the 10th storey and further investigation led to the discovery of his head on the floor of the first storey of the semi completed building.

He said initial investigations revealed the worker of the subcontractor was suspected to have been killed based on slash wounds on the neck which could have caused the head to be severed from the body.

"The incident is believed to have occurred at 4 pm and further investigation revealed a Bangladeshi man, aged 32, who is the victim's co worker, was suspected of being involved in the incident.

"The suspect is said to have pushed the victim through the window on the 11th storey but the body got stuck on the 10th storey while the head fell on the first storey," he said in a statement here today.

Ruslan said the man fled when he realised his other co workers knew about the incident.

According to him, the killing was believed to have been due to the suspect's jealousy towards the victim, who was said to be a favourite of their employer.

"The suspect was arrested early today around Kuala Selangor and he is remanded until next Friday to facilitate investigations," he said adding that both men had valid work permit.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code. - BERNAMA
