National leading mixed doubles pair, Chan Peng Soon and Goh Liu Ying claimed their second title of this season after emerging champions at the 2015 Russian Open Gold GP Badminton Championship on Sunday.

The unseeded pair who won the Polish Open in March, received stiff resistance from Japan's Yuta Watanabe and Arisa Higashino before securing a 21-13, 23-21 win in the final at the Olympics Sports Hall in Vladivostok, Russia, according to the Badminton World Federation (BWF) website (www.bwfbadminton.org).

However, there was no joy for leading Malaysian men's doubles pair, Goh V Shem and Tan Wee Kiong who put up a commendable performance before losing 20-22 and 19-21 to the top seeds Vladimir Ivanov and Ivan Sozonov of Russia.

Fourth seed, Zulfadli Zulkiffli who emerged as the country's best player in the men's singles category in the tournament, suffered a shock 12-21 and 20-22 defeat to Estonian representative, Raul Must in the semi-final action on Saturday.

The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) did not send any representatives in the women's singles and doubles for the championship which offers overall prize money of US$50,000 (approx RM200,000).
